While I've never faced the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of trailblazers like Ruby Bridges, Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson, and so many others, I have experienced what it feels like to be the only, or one of very few, Black people in the room.
Those memories have shaped who I am.
